Biking & Horseback Riding
HORSE BACK RIDING: (horse not supplied)
Bring your horse and come ride the trails or contact Jay Queen at Eagle Canyon Horseback Adventures (308) 289-4931 for horseback rentals.
You will find that a common love of the horse is very effective in forming bonds of friendship quickly with people all over the world. We are off the beaten track and sometimes so far off that tourists are a curiosity. If traveling through Nebraska, don’t be afraid to leave the interstate and take the road less traveled. Our roads are good & truly are less traveled. If you think Nebraska is flat, think again. Nebraska lands have quite a diversity to offer. About one-fourth of Nebraska is covered by The Sand Hills. Covered with prairie grasses, sand hills and wooded areas that makes this truly a unique place to ride. We are also situated on one of Nebraska’s most beautiful lakes with white sandy beaches.
Experience Nebraska from between the ears of your horse and you’ll be seeing it as if it were the first time.
HIKING and BIKING Trails:
Nebraska has long been known for its historic trails, which carried early explorers, adventurers and pioneers. Nebraska is now celebrated for its many recreational trails that serve modern adventurers. Hikers and bikers can select trails located far from the maddening crowds along lake McConaughy.
Ash Hollow just 15 miles from Eagle Canyon Hideaway also has a historical hiking trail. A hiking trail from the visitor center provides access to the spring in the bottom of the canyon. Also a part of the park, Windlass Hill is located on a separate tract 2 1/4 miles south on U.S. 26. Development there includes an interpretative shelter and informal signs. A walkway provides access to the crest of the hill to view the deep ruts carved by those thousands upon thousands of wagons that traveled the trail those many decades ago.
Eagle Canyon Hideaway is also a great place to let the kids enjoy riding their bikes without worrying about the traffic.
